It has been a bit of a strange time for me just lately. Mum set out early one morning, just over a week ago, with Nalle and myself. Off we went to the odd place where people sit behind desks whilst we have to sit in a waiting area for somebody to call out "Barkley and Nalle Griffin please".
It was so exciting. There were so many things to sniff and see, and the people there were very nice to leap up on and lick.
Then they took us away from mum, and off we went to an area where there were lots more things going on. Both Nalle and I shared a cage and had needles stuck in us. Nalle was very cross, because he just wanted to go home. "All they ever do here Barkley, is stick needles in you" he said. From my previous experiences, it seems that he is right. What a strange place indeed.
Sure enough, they then came along and put another needle into me and off I went to sleep. It took me quite a while to wake up, but when I did, they made me look like this:
My eyes were also very sore indeed, and all I wanted was to get myself back home to see my mum, Tallulah and Lotte.
When I arrived home Tallulah was so pleased to see me - momentarily - but then all of a sudden, for some unknown reason, she put her tail between her legs and bolted up the stairs and hid under the bed.
Poor Tallulah was traumatised and refused to come out. I was so shocked because I thought she would have been delighted to see me. After all I had missed her terribly.

"Mum" she cried "what on earth has happened to Barkley? he has been missing all day and then returns home looking like a space dog! what has gone wrong?".
"Take it off" I screamed.
"No" mum replied.
"It has to stay on ALL NIGHT, so that you don't rub your eyes whist I can't supervise you".

I was so fed up. That was until I realised that I could look at things without feeling as though I constantly had grit in my eyes. I also sat by the back door and watched the birds flying between the trees. That was such an awesome experience. I couldn't stop looking at them. I also realised that when you chase squirrels, they don't just disappear, they run up the trees. My goodness, things look so different to how they did before. You know, I don't even have to squint anymore when the lights come on during the evening. It is so wonderful.
On Tuesday I have to go back to that strange place and see the man who enabled me to see properly. I will thank him very much with a big wag of my tail, my best "arooo rooo roo" and of course a big lick.
As for Nalle joining me at that place, he was just there for tests, to check his thyroid gland activity. He is fine now, looking very good for a dog of 11 1/2 years old.

Lotte ? as per usual, Lotte just takes everything in her stride and wonders when the next meal is coming.

Mum says there will be some pictures of my new eyes soon, once all the swelling has disappeared. Things are looking and feeling very good.
