Moving on

Arrrrooo. I am back. Mum says now that I am over a year old, I ought to be moving away from the puppy page, and moving to the agility page, because this is where most of my training is now focused...... well, apart from mum teaching me loads of silly tricks that is, but I really enjoy learning those and they make me laugh.

Just because I am growing up now, it doesn't mean to say that you can't still look back at all the mischevious things I got up to when I was younger. Take a look at the blog archives, or click on where it says "older posts" at the bottom of the page. Oh I know mum runs a training school but I had to show her (in no uncertain terms) that not all dogs read the same books. I am Barkley you see, and I do things BARKLEY'S way..... of course, butter doesn't melt in my mouth - never! (don't forget, you can enlarge the photo's by clicking on them).

It has been a very sad month for us, having lost our dear old Granny Lotte. I have never known life without a Lotte, so I am really starting to find my way around now. Tally and I decided we ought to defer to Nalle as being our elder by going up to him and grabbing his snout and then laughing in the hope that he would say yes. Nalle very graciously accepted the honour and has relaxed nicely into the role.

See - Nalle is being very gracious about being our elder.

Tally thinks she knows it ALL about agility. She went to Shuttleworth show and got a 6th place in level 2 agility. She got a big rosette and points for her agility warrant book. I was very jelous and tried to chew up the rosette whilst nobody was looking.

Despite the fact that Tally earned her 6th place, she was very naughty the following day. She was way ahead of mum on the ABC (Anything But Collie) course, and going extremely fast. But as Tally reached the bottom of the dog walk, mum shouted out "you touch", but Tally didn't even look at mum and went flying off around the remainder of the course. Very very fast she was, but there is no point in being fast if you earn 5 faults by missing the dog walk contact... Silly Tally.

In the following class, Tally again stuck her nose in the air at mum, by flying off the dog walk contact. I had to laughed though, because mum thanked the judge and marched Tally out of the ring in disgrace. After that Tally was very good because she doesn't like being marched out of the ring without finishing the course. She said "mum pays the money, so I should have my full round. I don't know why I have to put my feet at the bottom of that dog walk, I am far too dainty to want to bother with things like that". Despite being very good though, she managed to get a pole down in her final run of the weekend, but that was accidental, not because Tally was trying to take short cuts to the finishing line!

It won't be long now until it is my first show. Early July mum says. I can't wait. I will show that Tally who is the Agility Setter in this household. You just wait and see.

Before I go.... I will let you into a little secret. I have heard mum talking about puppies. Evidently Tally has some baby neices and nephews in Hampshire. There are also some more planned down in the Southwest. I wonder if we will be joined by another redcoat? Or perhaps mum might get a working bred Cocker Spaniel like Molly. Somebody we know might be going to have puppies if all goes to plan. Then again, mums friend Peter said something about breeding Storm the Springer Spaniel in about 10 days time.

I wonder if mum will bring us home another baby, or whether she will wait until we are older. She says there is a lot to take into consideration.
