Some good and not so good news

Arrow-row-row again. If you haven't visited before - a warm welcome to my blog. If you like you can trace my history right back to when I was a puppy by clicking on the older posts thumbnail at the bottom of each page. You can also enlarge most of the pictures by clicking on them.

Mum has been keeping me very busy recently, with more training with Auntie Jayne Bray and also the last of the Barking Mad winter agility series at Keysoe in Bedforshire..... phew, mum was very relieved it all finished because I loved it so much that I became really naughty. Click on the link below to see how good Tallulah was and how naughty I was.

Mum doesn't mind though as I was in my element. Agility is great fun, and there is no way she wants to take the fun out of it especially as I am still a very young boy. Mum is great because she put it all down to experience! Running and jumping in an indoor horse smelling arena with a lovely sandy floor was just sooooooooooo exciting. I was just besides myself.

Last weekend I showed how I benefitted from it in grand style. I went to the Spring at Shuttleworth Show and I got 4 clear runs. Yes 4 !!!! Two of them were in agility classes whilst the other two were in jumping. As I became more confident I started getting faster and faster. Mum was so proud of me. She gave me big pats and hugs and I shouted "ARROW-ROW-ROW at anyone who would listen. I really enjoyed myself.

Poor Tallulah:

She hurt her back leg just a few days before the show. She was unable to participate and was very confused and unhappy. Worse still, mum took her to the chiropractor who manipulated her spine and back leg. He thumped her, twisted her, shook her upside down and inside out, so much so that all she wanted to do all afternoon was stay in the car and hide...... well, that's what she said happened... there must be some truth in what she said because I even overheard one of mum's friends telling her "I was considering having a session myself until I saw what he did to Tally - oooh !!".

The following morning, Tallulah said she wanted to participate and the chiropractor said he wanted to see how she performed. Mum explained to the judge that there may be a problem, but Tallulah took off around the course, but not at her usual rapid pace, although still quite fast. The judge said she could see that there was a problem but thought Tallulah had done very well considering. The chiropractor said he wanted to see her again after that run, so poor Tallulah's hair stood on end as she was put through his mill yet again.

For a few days she said it felt a great deal better, but yesterday she shrieked in pain once more and held her back leg up, so she may not even be able to play at the Wallingford show which is coming up very soon.

Today, poor Tallulah sat on the sidelines and watched me train:

She thought it was very funny!!!!!

Well, she might laugh, but to me it was very serious and very hard work!!! I have a lot to do to catch her up, but I am getting there, I can turn very quickly, and I am starting to go quite fast in the weaves too. I'll show her. It is only a matter of time now. She won't be laughing at me then.

As the title of this blog suggests. The latest news is not all good. Nalle (Mr. Bones to his friends) has now become very frail in his old age. His back legs are failing and yesterday he went down very badly. Mum thought his time had come and booked him into the vets for his final trip next week.

However, today he picked up quite well and we are hoping he may be able to stay with us just a bit longer, but mum has told us that we must take one day at a time and prepare ourselves for the worst.

Despite the fact Nalle had a bad day yesterday, he enjoyed a walk in the park after my training session. We are going to miss Nalle very much. I can never remember a time when he wasn't around. He has been my best friend and one of my mentors. The other being Lotte who left us exactly a year ago. Between them they taught me a great deal. I am a good boy and for that I thank them.
