A wonderfully crazy day followed by a horrible day

Arooo rooo rooo! Aroooo roooo rooo! Aroooo rooo rooo!

Last weekend we went to Wales. We went to an agility show at Tredegar House which was a very nice place for us to visit. Lots of things to see and for dogs to do there, and the weather was nice and warm too. However, I had my mind on FAR more important things than agility shows. I was there to meet my Blog sweetheart, Grace -yes, Grace - the beautiful. We thought the backdrop of Tredegar House would be the perfect setting for our wedding.

I became quite stressed at one point, because the hour of the wedding came and went, but there was no sign of Grace. I asked mummy to check her text messages, but she said there were none. My heart then sunk and I started to wonder whether or not she was coming:

The best man and his wife arrived in their car:

Mia looked around, then all of a sudden her face dropped: "Oh Alfie! Oh no! Look whose over there! I didn't know that ugly mutt had been invited". Mia snorted as loud as she possibly could, so that everyone could tell who she was referring too.

"Right, if she is one of the guests, then I am off home. I hope she is just here for the agility and not to come here barking and snarling and spoiling all our fun!"

"Huh, bitches - honestly, they just have to get themselves into a tizzy when there is a major event don't they - sighs!"

I waited and waited. But still no Grace. She is now 15 minutes late!!!! I am sure she has decided against marrying me and has taken off with another dog instead. I wonder who she has chosen over me then? :-(

"She's done a runner Barkley..... good. I hope she has, because I thought YOU were MINE!!!!"

"Barkley, Barkley, stop looking so sad and miserable, here comes the bride!"

Sure enough, at 11.20am I saw mummy waving at the approaching car. It was Grace. She was indeed late, but it was still my beloved Grace. She hadn't made off with another after all, but had come to tie the knot with me. Oh happy day.

My darling Grace. Look how beautiful she is.

Last minute touches were made before the ceremony:

"stand still honey, and just let me put this on right", said Lilly Mae's mummy. "and I will just check that everything down here is on properly" said Daisy Mae.

"Hey, Barkley, look at her over there? she's a bit of alright aint she?"
Phwoah she certainly is.....

"Now then Lilly Mae and Daisy Mae, you be on your best behaviours and let's have no squabbling eh?"

"Pssst. Barkley... you know you can make a quick get away now and not go through with it don't you? It's not too late to make a run for it!"

Yeah but she is soooo cute Alfie. You can see why I love her so much can't you?!

"I am all set up and ready for the big occasion, can we all gather together now please?"

"Have I really got to sit with you lot?"

"Urgh, and you even eat off the ground too - tut!"

"ok.... I will just make myself home here and watch"

"I do Barkley. Do you?"

Oh yes. I most certainly do"

"Phew, aren't we glad it is all out of the way now? Perhaps we can take all this gear off and lie down for a bit!"

"So when's the party? where's all the food?"

"ahhhh, here tis. I will take all of that thank you very much".

and so to the honeymoon.......

Dorsetter.

Dorsetter!

But that's the first Severn Bridge..... how the heck can that be Dorsetter???

So ended a lovely day.

The next day was the exact opposite. It was horrible! As it was hot, we decided not to return to the agility show, but to go for a lovely riverside walk instead. We went to a place called "Usk" which was not too far from Tredegar House. The weather was lovely. We had a long lead walk though until we reached the place where dogs could jump into the cool river for a good swim. We were really enjoying ourselves, and the field with the bunnies in was great fun. I shouted "AROOO ROOO ROOO" at the very top of my voice because I was enjoying myself so much. The humans sat down and enjoyed watching us run around. Then they became thirsty and decided to walk back along the river bank towards the town. It was then Daisy and I went down a bank towards the water and disturbed a wasps nest! We came running up covered in them from nose to tail.

Daisy had the sense to throw herself into the water and all the wasps flew off her. Mummy tried to get me into the water too, but I stopped to roll, and I got horribly stung. The pain was excrutiating. I rolled and rolled and rolled. I threw myself into the river. I lay down in the water. I came out and rolled and rolled and rolled again.

Mummy became very concerned because I was shaking so much, and her and Aunt Tracy tried to find me an emergency vet. However, mummy checked me over and decided that I wasn't going into shock and that I was going to be ok. She managed to get me back to the car, but I panicked along the road everytime something touched me or flew past me. I was really glad to get back to my honeymoon home, where I could shake myself down and relax. I look forward to seeing Tredegar House again, because we had such a lovely time, but I don't think I ever want to go back to Usk. I would be too scared.
